  • اطلق على المرض اسم الزهايمر نسبه لطبيب ألمانى
  • اكثر ما يزيد احتمال حدوث الزهايمر ، وجود قريب مصاب بالزهايمر , خاصه ان كانت الاصابه فى سن مبكر 
  • يتم التشخيص بالفحص العصبى و النفسى و التحدث مع شخص مقرب للمريض  
  • تحليل الدم قد يستبعد امراض لها أعراض مشابهه لكنه لا يشخص المرض
  • فى المراحل الأولى لمرض الزهايمر قد ينسى المصاب الأحداث القريبه أو اسم شخص قريبه ثم مع تطور المرض قد ينسى اشياء بسيطه مثل كيف ينظف اسنانه ، او كيف يمشط شعره ثم يجد صعوبه فى التحدث و القراءه و الكتابه و فى النهايه يحتاج لمن يرعاه رعايه تامه
  • من أعراض الزهايمر : -
  •  تقلب المزاج قد ينقلب من الهدوء الى البكاء الى الغضب ، بدون سبب لذلك
  • كثره النسيان
  • مريض الزهايمر يفقد الحكم أو التفكير الصحيح مثل ارتداء ملابس ثقيله فى الصيف و خفيفه فى الشتاء
  • ممارسه الرياضه و الهوايات تؤجل حدوث الأعراض الشديده للزهايمر ، فمرض الزهايمر غير قابل للشفاء
  • قد تتشابه أعراض الزهايمر مع العديد من الأسباب : ادمان الكحول- اضطرابات الغده الدرقيه-- اثار جانبيه للأدويه- مرض الشلل الرعاش "باركينسون"- ورم بالمخ
